Join the Howard County Autism Society and Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks as we celebrate World Autism Acceptance Day with Autism in the Park! This FREE, rain-or-shine event will feature opportunities to
- Learn about Autism and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Enjoy interactive play and learn how to use an AAC communication board
- Visit with first responders (HoCo Police and Fire & Rescue)
- Meet costumed characters and entertainers
- Participate in a yoga demonstration by instructors from the Yoga Center of Columbia
- Play cornhole and bocce
- Get your face painted
- Make a sensory craft
- Meet Mia Curtis, author of Wonderful Me
- Meet elected representatives
- Listen and dance to music
- Indulge in a free frozen dessert
