White Acre Road sidewalk closure to begin
As part of a Howard County construction project to implement complete street improvements, the sidewalk along the north side of White Acre Road between Stevens Forest Road and Basket Ring Road in Columbia will be closed to pedestrians starting on or about Monday, August 19.

River Road Retaining Wall Rehabilitation to Begin
A Howard County construction project to replace a damaged retaining wall approximately 0.4 miles north of 560 River Road in Sykesville is expected to begin on or about Monday, August 19. During the project, the roadway from the south end of River Road to the project site will be closed to thru traffic. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late September.

County Executive Ball Announces $8.1 Million Grant For New Cut Road Repair
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced that the County has received a grant award of up to $8.1 million from the National Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) to rebuild the portion of New Cut Road that washed away in the May 2018 Ellicott City flood. The County estimates that all work will be completed, and New Cut Road will re-open, between July - September of 2020, weather permitting.

Excavation for New Cut Road Water Main Replacement to Begin
In order to accommodate two retaining walls necessary to stabilize and strengthen the area between New Cut Road and the New Cut tributary, the water main must be relocated.
