Public input being collected now through Wednesday, March 3rd

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is seeking public input as Howard County Government prepares to submit its annual Priority Letter to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).

"Increasing safe, reliable and accessible infrastructure is a priority as we work towards a more multi-modal society, so our residents can spend less valuable time in their car," said Ball. "There are many projects to pursue, and we're seeking input so there is a collaborative and transparent process with our residents, county council and state legislative delegation to help create the best transportation experience for everyone in Howard County.”

The Priority Letter recommends the County’s prioritized transportation projects for MDOT’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2027 Consolidated Transportation Program. Residents can find information about this year’s Priority Letter, projects, copies of previous priority letters and more online, and submit their comments and input to David Cookson with the Office of Transportation by email to transportation@howardcountymd.gov or by mail to: Howard County Office of Transportation, c/o David Cookson, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The deadline to submit public comment and input is 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3rd.

“I look forward to learning and hearing from our residents, county council and state legislative delegation to help ensure our transportation system is safe, effective and equitable.” said Bruce Gartner, Administrator of the Office of Transportation.

The County’s Priority Letter is the result of review and input by County staff from several departments and elected and appointed officials and is due to MDOT this April.
