Howard County 2022 Resource Guide
The Office on Aging and Independence presents the 2022 issue of the Resource Guide.
This guide is an essential resource for Older Adults, Persons with Disabilities and Caregivers. This valuable and comprehensive publication includes helpful articles, checklists, care-giving tips, information on 55+ housing, 50+ Centers, consumer resources, elder law, and many more informative categories. The guide provides the user with beneficial and relevant information about local services, products and companies serving Howard County residents.
The Age-Friendly Action Plan spells out more than 80 recommendations to bring the county closer to being a more inclusive, accessible, safer and healthier community. It uses the World Health Organization’s Eight Domains of Livability as a guide to examine Howard County’s infrastructure, services, communications and ways of working together.

The Howard County Caregivers Guide provides information about local, state and federal programs, businesses, and non-profit organizations serving older adults, caregivers, and their families in Howard County. The guides are free to the community; copies are available at 50+ centers, Howard County libraries and government offices.
In May 2014, Howard County announced the Master Plan for the Aging Population initiative, a comprehensive planning process to design the types of services, programs and facilities to address the future needs of this growing segment of the County’s population. In December 2014, a preliminary presentation of findings to date was shared at a series of public meetings. The full report was released in September 2015.
