Today, County Executive Calvin Ball announced a new government position, the Equity and Restorative Practices Manager, whose role will identify any practices or policies needed to ensure equity; recommend and implement training and competency-building; develop strategic community partnerships. Through restorative practices, the leader in this position will help our community in strengthening relationships and building social connections. Ball also announced the renaming of the Office of Human Rights to the Office of Human Rights and Equity.

Howard County continues to see COVID-19 data trending in the right direction. Howard County Health Department now has 45 contract tracers working to trace and investigate COVID-10 confirmed cases in the county. Cited in the HoCo RISE plan, the Center for Health Security at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health estimated 15 contact tracers per 100,000 population needed. Howard County is still onboarding additional contact tracers.
